- Location: Installed in the tappet guide bores in the cylinder block, between the camshaft and pushrods.
- Orientation: The flat base contacts the camshaft lobe; the upper end connects to the pushrod.
- Installation Note: Replace with new tappets when installing a new camshaft; ensure clean bores and proper lubrication during assembly.
3. Function
- Motion Transmission: Transfers the rotary motion of the camshaft into linear motion to actuate the pushrods and valves.
- Force Transfer: Delivers camshaft thrust to the valve train, overcoming valve spring pressure to open/close intake and exhaust valves.
