- Location: Inside the engine oil pan, at the bottom of the crankcase
- Mounting: Bolted to the oil pan’s inner wall; the suction end is near the oil pan bottom (lowest oil level)
- Connection: The outlet connects to the engine oil pump inlet via a rubber hose or metal tube
- Orientation: Fixed horizontally, ensuring the suction port is always submerged in oil to avoid air intake

- Oil Suction & Conveyance: As the oil pickup tube, it extracts lubricating oil from the oil pan and delivers it to the oil pump, supplying oil pressure for the engine’s lubrication system
- Preliminary Filtration: The suction port has a mesh screen to block large impurities (metal shavings, sludge) from entering the oil pump, protecting the pump and engine components
