Installation Position
- Location: Rear end (flywheel end) of the crankshaft, at the junction between engine and transmission (inside the flywheel housing).
- Installation Requirement: Installed onto the crankshaft journal; the wear sleeve fits over the crankshaft, then the oil seal is pressed into the engine’s rear cover against the sleeve.
Function
- Oil Leakage Prevention: Creates a dynamic seal between the rotating crankshaft and stationary engine block, preventing engine oil from leaking out of the crankcase at the rear main bearing area.
- Wear Protection: The included wear sleeve repairs minor crankshaft surface wear and provides a durable, smooth running surface for the seal lip, extending seal service life.
